Parent Meet 1
Much had happened in the class lately and I have to take this opportunity to remind all of you again. Being in 2E5 means you have not done well last year and you need to work harder this year. As mentioned by the Principal, if your academic performance is not up to expectation, you will be laterally transfered to the normal academic stream. This would mean an additional year for you and a very different set of subject combinations.
I am quite upset that though I had gone into the class to remind the class not to misbehave and to work as a team. There are still reports of students reporting late for class, skipping classes or are late in submission of their classwork or homework. To make things worse, there are also reports of bullying, teasing and even fightings.
The boys involved in the fights had been given 5 demerit points each which is equivalent to a major offence. With 2 major offences, you will be suspended from class and with 3 major offences, you will be expelled. As for your classmate who is always late - a stern warning has been issued and the parents had been notified. With 7 demerit points - 3 more latecomings and you might be suspended.
A class cannot work if anyone of you refuse to cooperate and disrupt the class by getting into fights. It is not doing anyone good as our main aim this year would be for you to do well academically so that you have a choice of the subjects you want to study in Sec 3.
My heart sunk as I saw how upset and worried some of the parents are. I have 2 boys of my own and I could definitely feel for them. We want our children to grow up happy and confident, not miserable in a class who cannot work together and worse off - getting into the habit of teasing and fighting. I would appeal to all of you who are reading this - think twice about the consequence of your actions and how upset your parents would be.
I would not want to go into the class just to scold you. I want a class who can work together happily and strive hard in their studies - a class which I can be proud of - just like your parents.
